Motorcycle wreck kills Medford man TRAIL - A Medford man died in a motorcycle crash on Elk Creek Road Saturday. Daniel Allen Thompson, 30, of the 3000 block of Adams Circle, was riding his 1998 Kawasaki Ninja southbound near milepost 8 when he lost control and smashed into a guardrail at about 8 a.m., said Jackson County Sheriff's Department reports. Thompson was reportedly riding at speeds of more than 80 mph while he was passing another motorcycle on a blind curve, according to sheriff's reports. This curve was posted with a recommended speed of 35 mph. The other motorcycle was operated by one of Thompson's friends, said a sheriff's department spokeswoman. Thompson apparently died on impact from the force of the crash, said Spencer Smith, sheriff's chief deputy medical examiner. Thompson was wearing a full-face helmet and leather riding gear. There is no evidence drugs or alcohol were involved in the accident.   Mail Tribune Home | Ottaway Newspapers, Inc. | Dow Jones & Co., Inc. | Privacy | Contact Us Copyright 2001 Mail Tribune, Inc.
