Wilson, a 21-year old Central Point resident, faces Jason Estrada of Providence, R.I., in the championship bout Friday at 4 p.m. Pacific time. Wilson took care of Spencer by finishing strong, recording a knockdown and forcing a standing-eight count in Round 4. Now, he gets a shot at Estrada, a three-time national champion who recently won at the Pan-Am Games. "This is who we figured if we fought well — which we knew we would — we would meet him," said Joe Pedrojetti, founder of the Medford- based Bulldog club. "We’ve never fought him, but this is a good style for us. He’s a shorter, heavier guy. ... We’ve watched film on him for two weeks. We just need to execute." Advertisement Estrada recorded a 15-4 decision over Travis Walker of Tallahassee, Fla., Wednesday. The 6-foot-3, 225-pound Wilson, who is now 66-16, was an alternate on the 2000 Olympic team. He can earn a starting spot this time around by winning Friday or in the consolation final Saturday, then emerging victorious at the box-off between the final two in each division next weekend in Cleveland. The consolation winner must beat the trials champion twice to claim the Olympic berth. Pedrojetti likes Wilson’s chances. "He’s in the best shape he’s ever been," said Pedrojetti, whose club has never had a fighter advance this far before. "Mike shines as far as skill-wise. ... He’s a lot more skilled than anybody here."
