Sex offender moves to area A convicted sex offender has taken up residence in the Medford area, Jackson County corrections officers said. Erik Joshua Conn, 29, was paroled Nov. 4 after serving a 30-month sentence he was given following a second-degree sexual abuse conviction in 1996. Conn is on parole for the above charge and a separate charge of second-degree sexual abuse until Sept. 9, 2002. He also is on probation for two counts of third-degree sexual abuse until Aug. 26, 2001. Corrections officers said Conn targets minors and mentally or physically disabled persons, individuals he can influence or control. The terms of his parole require that Conn: have no contact with minors, disabled persons, his own children or his victims and their families; avoid forming relationships with parents of minor children; avoid alcohol; undergo a mental health evaluation, a psychiatric evaluation and sex offender treatment. He also is prohibited from riding RVTD buses or other public mass transit and from entering stops or transfer stations. Conn must be in his residence during a county-imposed curfew between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. Anyone who witnesses violations of Conn's parole or probation is asked to call 774-4900.
