Hunter Allen Kearns, 19, of Grants Pass was lodged in the Josephine County Jail Friday after being arrested by the Grants Pass Department of Public Safety. Kearns is suspected of being the driver of a white 1988 Toyota 4-Runner who ran from Medford police at the intersection of Lear Way and Delta Waters Road during an attempted traffic stop at about 8:15 p.m. Dec. 28. The truck had no license plates and did not have its lights on, so an officer tried to stop it, police said. The driver of the truck took off and traveled west on Highway 62 and Highway 238 toward Jacksonville. Police have said the Toyota was crossing into oncoming lanes and passing other vehicles on blind corners. The Jackson County Sheriff's Department, Jacksonville police and Oregon State Police joined the chase at different points along the way. The pickup's speed stayed close to 60 mph during the chase, and its lights remained off until it reached Ruch. Police lost sight of the truck on Cantrall Road at about 8:40 p.m., where they cut their pursuit short because of deep snow. Kearns remains in jail with no bail. His charges include six probation violations, reckless driving, driving while suspended and criminal mischief, according to jail records. Court records show Kearns had several felony convictions for car theft, second-degree burglary and eluding police in Josephine County during 2015. Medford police originally reported the Toyota was found in Grants Pass Dec. 29, but now suspect the truck was abandoned in the Medford area. "It's still listed as stolen," Medford police Lt.
