Butte Falls pulls away from North Lake BUTTE FALLS - What looked like a good matchup on paper between the two top teams in the Skyline A Southern Division turned into a rout for Butte Falls. Junior Krystle Rowley sparked Butte Falls with eight service points in Game 1. "We're real pleased with her," said Butte Falls coach Mike Harrington. "We've been working on serving with her in practice and it really paid off tonight." North Lake (5-1 Sky A) climbed to within 8-5 in the first game, but Rowley toed the line and rattled off points 9-15 to clinch the win. In Game 2, Jessica Dunlap took over the serving duties, staking the Loggers to an early 6-0 lead then closed out the match with points 13-15. "They (North Lake) had trouble with serve receive," said Harrington, whose team racked up 14 serving aces on the night. "I mean, it was pretty even in the beginning, but then we took it to them. Especially in Game 2." Of the 14 aces, Dunlap slammed home seven, while Rowley also contributed a team-high nine assists. Sophomore Brianna Smeltz added six digs for the Loggers. Butte Falls (3-3, 3-0 Sky A) plays in the Lost River tournament today. PROSPECT 13-15-15, TRIAD 15-9-7 - At Klamath Falls, Prospect used tough serving and the blocking of sophomore hitter Candice Govanor in the decisive third game. In the final game, Govanor provided five blocks and Michelle Baker and Hiliary Lewis both went 7-of-7 from the service line to help the Cougars win the match. Sophomore setter Brittany Bennett had a big match for Prospect (3-2, 2-2 Sky A). Bennett went 14-of-16 from the service line, had four kills and dished out 10 assists.
