Pricilla Rose, 49, of Medford, was driving a 2010 Toyota pickup north on I-5 and took the exit 40 off-ramp at a very high rate of speed, Oregon State Police reported. Once on the off-ramp, Rose lost control of the pickup and it smashed head-on into a guardrail. The pickup rolled several times and came to rest upright at the top of the exit. Rose was extricated from the pickup and taken by ambulance to Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center, where police said she was being treated for serious injuries. Hospital officials said she was in fair condition Tuesday morning. Her passenger, Debbra Lynn Mauldin, 46, also of Medford, died at the scene. Investigators believe speed and alcohol contributed to the crash, police said in a news release. Officials said they didn't know whether the two were wearing seat belts. OSP was assisted at the scene by Oregon Department of Transportation, Jackson County Fire District 3 and Mercy Flights.
