Thank you for the help. -- Connie M., Central Point Our radar is either hopelessly off on this one or all the raspberry growers are flying well below it. Exhaustive searches by Internet, phone, Mail Tribune archives and our own classified advertisements yielded no leads for local U-pick raspberries. U-picking is a hard way for growers to make a living, and crops are too unpredictable to include in any reliable listing, said Wendy Siporen, director of THRIVE, a local effort to link local consumers to local produce. Pre-picked local raspberries can be found at several farms, farmers markets and specialty stores. Hide them, because they will disappear in a flash when you're not looking. Check the newspaper classifieds section for more information. U-pickers can still fill their baskets with local strawberries, blueberries, cherries, apricots, peaches, apples and pears. Strawberries are available intermittently through September at Eagle Point's Wild Bee Honey Farm & Gardens. Call 826-7621. Cherry season is in full swing at Ashland's Valley View Orchards, with apricots soon to follow. Call 488-2840. Blueberries will come on after the Fourth of July at Medford's Alta Vista Orchard.
