Murder victim identified as Portland woman By Mail Tribune staff Updated: Oct 27, 2021 02:43 AM A A Auriel Zipher Scattergood A woman who was murdered early Wednesday in the 300 block of Eagle Mill Road near Ashland has been identified as Meghan Nicole Rodriguez, 38, of Portland. An autopsy was completed on Rodriguez, and according to the Oregon State Police forensic pathologist the cause of death was homicide. Police have not said how Rodriguez was killed, but a news release the day of the incident from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office said 911 dispatchers had received a report of a stabbing at 2:14 a.m. Wednesday. Auriel Zipher Scattergood, 30, of Ashland, was arrested and is being held in the Jackson County Jail without bail, according to the Jackson County Sheriff's Office. Scattergood has been charged with second-degree murder, second-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon and aggravated animal abuse. Rodriguez’s dog was injured and required veterinary care as a result of the incident, police said.
