All the unemployed single mom says she wants is an opportunity to sift through the wreckage and retrieve two jackets, shoes and other items belonging to her 17-month-old daughter. A Rogue River towing company has told Glover she has to pay more than $400 before taking anything from her wrecked Toyota Celica. "She’s perfectly welcome to come look at the car," said JoAnn Brooks of Precision Towing. "But if someone wants to get something out of a car and not pay the bill, we have to draw the line." Besides, Brooks said, the Celica is damaged to the point where someone would probably have to cut through its body in order to pick through the contents. Advertisement "Everything is covered in broken glass and debris," Brooks said. "The entire car is wadded up, and there’s nothing in there to get." The towing company has sent Glover a $430 bill for labor costs incurred when a worker towed the car from a steep embankment along East Evans Creek Road to their yard, Brooks said. As part of the job, the company had to hire flaggers to reroute traffic around the tow truck, she said. Glover, 22, of Medford, says she does not have the cash to pay the towing company. She’s looking for full-time work, but is living on $100 per week unemployment checks, she said. "I have no money for that right now — It’s not like I can go buy my daughter new shoes or a new jacket," Glover said. "They won’t even let me get my daughter’s diapers out of the car, and I just don’t think it’s fair." She understands the tow company’s position, but just wishes its employees would give her a break because of her current situation. "I’m just trying to get by," Glover said. Police say Glover’s car was stolen last Thursday by Adrian Geyer, a Gold Hill man with a long felony record who is being held in the Jackson County Jail without bail on a vehicle-theft charge and a parole hold. Glover said she did not know Geyer when a female friend asked her to give both of them a ride to a mutual acquaintance’s home last week. When Glover went to sleep alongside her daughter at the house, she said Geyer stole her car keys and cell phone and drove away in the Celica. She said she later reported the car was stolen, then found out it had been wrecked. Rogue River police said Geyer was driving more than 100 mph along East Evans Creek Road before he crashed the Celica. Glover said she has liability coverage for her car, but no collision insurance.
