Jackson County Community Justice Director Shane Hagey, 48, was cited and released, according to a news release from Medford Area Drug and Gang Enforcement. Oregon State Police assisted in the arrest, which occurred at the Purple Parrot in the Medford Center. Circumstances that led up to the arrest are not yet known. The case has been referred to the Jackson County District Attorney's Office. District Attorney Beth Heckert said Hagey has been placed on administrative leave. Heckert said she has not yet seen police reports on the case. She estimates it will take about two weeks before her office decides whether to move forward with the case. Depending on the DA's review, the case could be handed off to another agency — such as the state — for prosecution, Heckert said. Assistant County Counsel Devin Huseby would not comment. Multiple calls to MADGE, Hagey's office and OSP Thursday were not returned. Community Justice handles parole and probation services, juvenile probation and detention and runs the county's transition center. According to Hagey's LinkedIn account, he was hired as director in March 2005. He supervises adult probation and parole, juvenile probation, the Juvenile Detention facility and the Community Justice Transition Center in Talent. Prior to 2005, he was undersheriff in Umatilla County for six years. Hagey also has worked for the Pendleton Police Department, in corrections in Umatilla County and the state, and for the Oregon Youth Authority.
