October 27. 2014 10:58AM Since You Asked: Free leaf bags still available, but at a different spot I see from a message with my "utility" bill the city is no longer distributing leaf bags, instead suggesting we go to Rogue Disposal. There is no indication if we will have to pay more now that City Hall has blown the task down the street. Do the masters of insight have any answers? — Carmen T., Medford Even those of us huddled in the SYA World Headquarters seemingly cling to time-honored traditions. That lovely autumn stroll to the Medford City Hall, to pick up 10 free leaf bags is an annual event for some of us here at the Murky Tributary. While the city may have not made it perfectly clear, getting the first 10 bags free ("while supplies last") continues to be the standard operating procedure, even though the site has changed. Rogue Disposal & Recycling, which now sports one of the best views in town atop the spanking-new One West Main (that's on West Main Street, next to the railroad tracks), is doling out 10 bags to city residents. For $1, you can buy 30, 30-gallon leaf bags. The location in the building is Suite 401, just outside the elevator. The office is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Leaf collection begins Nov. 3. For residents living north of Main Street, continuing along Hillcrest Road and Cherry Lane, the pickup weeks are Nov. 3-7; Nov. 24-28; and Dec. 15-19.
