He earned a bachelor's degree from Oregon State University and a master's from California State University-Chico. Ron Doan is general manager of Umpqua Indian Utility Cooperative and former operations officer for the Cow Creek Band of the Umpqua Tribe of Indians. Doan has 32 years of experience with Pacific Power, including director of general business management in Oregon, Washington and California. Doan is an Oregon State University graduate, former Umpqua Holdings board member and presently serves on a variety of Douglas County community boards. Pat Fahey is the owner and general manager of Southern Oregon Sanitation. He has operated the Merlin Landfill and the Josephine County Septage Lagoons. He launched Pacific Systems, a software company later sold to Bend Mailing, to offer digital solutions to the refuse industry. Fahey is a founder and charter board member of Our Community Bank in Grants Pass. He served on the Rogue Community College Advisory Board, assisting with the incorporation of Jackson County into the RCC District. Thomas W. Fischer is the principal broker and owner of Coldwell Banker Commercial NW. In 1993, Fischer co-founded Catalyst Real Estate Group, specializing in assisting biotech firms in the San Francisco Bay Area and became the owner of Coldwell Banker Commercial NW in 2008. John White is the region manager of Western Oregon for Boise Cascade, overseeing five wood products manufacturing plants in Medford, White City and Willamina. He was formerly the business optimization manager for Boise Cascade, based in Montreal. White earned a bachelor's degree in forest engineering from the University of New Brunswick. SOREDI also announced Codi Spodnik has rejoined the agency as its communications manager. Between 2010 and 2014, Spodnik was communications and marketing manager. People's Bank of Commerce has named JR Wheeler vice president and commercial loan officer at its Grants Pass branch at 509 SE Seventh St. Wheeler joins People's Bank with more than 10 years of experience in the financial services industry, most recently as vice president and commercial relationship manager for Wells Fargo Bank in Grants Pass. Before banking, he was a residential loan officer for Frost Financial Group, a sports manager for the Special Olympics and a sports marketing assistant at the University of Oregon. Wheeler earned a business administration degree at California State University-Sacramento. He is a current member and past chair and treasurer of the Grants Pass and Josephine County Chamber of Commerce board and vice chair for the ACCESS board. A nonprofit called Experience Works recognized Karen Lyon of Grants Pass with a Shooting Star award for outstanding achievements in serving older workers. As an employment and training coordinator, Lyon assists older workers to help them achieve their personal and employment goals through training, coaching and customized services. Experience Works provides community service, training and employment opportunities for people 55 and older. Its largest program, the Senior Community Service Employment Program, operates in 30 states and Puerto Rico, including 32 Oregon counties. The SFA is a 3,000-member trade association encompassing food artisans, importers and entrepreneurs in the $120 billion U.S. specialty food industry.
