Reyes joins Korth with 844 series Allan Reyes put his name in the Medford Lanes record books alongside Bob Korth Wednesday night thanks to his efforts in the Commercial League. Using a ball that was drilled by Bill Brickey 20 minutes before the league started, Reyes tied Korth's 24-year-old record with an 844 series. The 30-year-old Ashland resident bowled games of 289, 255 and 300 to accomplish the feat, using his 19th 300 game to secure his place in bowling history. "It was pretty electric," Reyes said of the atmosphere at Medford Lanes. "I kind of got jazzed all of a sudden once I realized what I was doing." With the pressure on, the left-hander took his time over the last few frames of the third game to cap his thrilling night. "I was just cruising through having fun bowling with my friends and then they mentioned it in the 10th frame," Reyes said of closing in on the record. "I just left it up to the ball then and figured whatever happens will happen." Reyes said he was hoping for a new look when he decided on trying out a new ball. He didn't even have time to pay for Brickey's work before stepping up to the line Wednesday night. Following his performance, Reyes said he was more than happy to pay up. "A brand new ball just gets you more motivated," he said. "It definitely helped tonight." Korth, of Central Point, set the standard in 1976 with an 844 series at Medford Lanes. He rolled a 267, 297 and 280 during Men's Classic League action. Reyes had hit the 800s three times prior to Wednesday, with all coming in California. In other Commercial League action Wednesday, Joe Dauenhauer shot a 299 after leaving the No. 2 pin in the 12th frame. The Ashland resident has previously bowled four 300 games.
