But the Knights sent 13 batters to the plate in the sixth inning and scored all their runs in a 9-5 Skyline Conference victory. Both teams combined for 13 errors. "Most of the errors came from trying to make the big play," said North Valley coach Jeff Conard. "Once we scored a couple of runs, Mazama started pressing trying to get out of the inning. Both teams were feeling the pressure a little." Vikings pitcher Vanessa Pisan had blanked North Valley on three hits through five innings. But Mazama came apart after scoring a run in the top of the sixth to take a 3-0 lead. The Knights (6-9, 5-6 Skyline) combined six hits with three walks and five errors in the sixth. Shawlena Haga’s bases-loaded two-run single tied the game at 3-all. Trista Morton followed with an RBI single. After Casie Hinkle walked, Kaity McElheran’s two-run single proved to be the winning hit. Advertisement "This win kept us in the playoff hunt," said Conard. "The league is packed up for second and third." North Valley received two hits each from Shae Miller, Kristen Allison, Morton and McElheran. For Mazama (8-7. 6-5 Skyline), Chelsea Whiteley went 3-for-4 and Danielle Stratton had two hits, two RBIs and scored twice.
