Glasscock tops Pirates again ROGUE RIVER -- For the second time this season, Rogue River freshman Katie Glasscock beat Phoenix, but this time she dealt a blow to the Pirates' playoff hopes. Glasscock limited the Pirates to three hits and contributed an RBI to her team's cause as the Chieftains posted a 4-2 win Tuesday. Glasscock struck out four and walked five, but held the Pirates scoreless until the final inning. The Chieftains (7-4 Skyline) scored all four of their runs in the fourth inning on two hits and two errors. Phoenix (11-6, 6-6 Sky) finally got on the board in the seventh when losing pitcher Tiffani Ross walked, Jeanetta Hudnall singled and Jamie Escobar knocked home Ross with an RBI groundout. Hudnall then stole second, advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored to make it 4-2. Two walks put the tying runs on base, but Glasscock struck out freshman Kelsey Russell to end the game. ILLINOIS VALLEY 3, NORTH VALLEY 2 -- At Cave Junction, Vannessa Box's eighth-inning double scored Tiffany Pope from first base to lift Illinois Valley. Freshman Ivy Fink got things going for the Cougars in the eighth with a one-out walk. Pope reached on a fielder's choice, then came in with the winning run on Box's hit to right field. North Valley tied the game in the seventh when Charlotte Beck singled, went all the way to third on a sacrifice bunt and scored on a groundout. Lori Jo Young, Jenice Brasser, Tia Chastain and Sami Newman each had two hits for the Vikings. Lakeview kept the game close and trailed only 2-0 heading into the fifth. But three errors and a wild pitch led to five runs for the Hornets in the fifth. Kiley Walton also had three hits for Henley. Brophy scattered eight hits, struck out five and walked three. The Crusaders (11-3) broke the game open by scoring four runs in the sixth inning on just one hit -- Shasta DeArmond's single -- three walks and two errors.
