POULTRY SHOW TO REMAIN OPEN UNTIL WEDNESDAY On account of unusually inclement weather, the attendance at the poultry show has been disappointing both from Southern Oregon and the Williamette valley counties. The exhibits are among the best ever made in the state in any show. Those who have attended express surprise and appreciation of the great progress noted in the quality of exhibits from this part of the state. Farmers however, may be excused for not bringing their families to enjoy the exhibition and its educational advantages for the weather has been severely foggy and frosty. Therefore, the local poultry association has obtained permission from all of the exhibitors to continue the show four days more, until next Wednesday evening at 10 o'clock and has reduced the price of admission to 10 cents for everybody. The association will not be able to pay its expense in any event, but its officers believe that the farmers and people generally should enjoy the benefit of the exhibition and its educational features as the stimulation of interest in the poultry industry. Breeders of Jackson county have made excellent progress in the improvement of the quality of their birds during the past year. A number of local exhibits of several varieties are in a class with the best in the state. The interest in further improvement is very marked. Breeders generally have quickly discovered that there is added profit in improved quality. The time was discouragingly short in which to prepare exhibits. The state association had not previously taken into consideration the time required to give notice of the location of the state show, so exhibitors might prepare for the show, nor had its officials considered that January is bad for exhibition of the best birds on account of the fact they have been mated at that time and their owners cannot afford to interrupt the preparation for the present year's hatch. Hereafter the annual election at which the place of holding the state show will be selected probably will be held in October and the state exhibition in December.
