Updated: Power restored after Medford area outage Comment MailTribune.com Writer Posted Feb. 17, 2016 at 4:27 PM Updated Feb 17, 2016 at 6:06 PM Posted Feb. 17, 2016 at 4:27 PM Updated Feb 17, 2016 at 6:06 PM » Social News Pacific Power reports that service has been restored to all customers in the Medford area who lost power in an outage that started about 4 p.m. According to the Pacific Power website, the outage originally affected 5,334 customers, but crews got the lights back on for all but 2,109 residents in Jacksonville, Applegate and Grants Pass zip codes around 5 p.m. All power was back on shortly after that. Pacific Power spokesman Tom Gauntt couldn't speculate on the outage's specific cause, but said power was lost this afternoon after power transmission was interrupted. The system automatically brings down a larger area of the power grid than what was actually damaged, Gauntt said. Gauntt said the damage affected a line that transmits power from Medford to Applegate and Ruch.
