Tredway makes way to U.S. Amateur Andrew Tredway of Ashland was the medalist in a U.S. Amateur qualifying tournament at the Oregon Golf Association Members Course in Woodburn. Tredway, who plays at Oregon, shot a 9-under-par 135 over 36 holes to grab the first of two qualifying spots into the U.S. Amateur tournament Aug. 15-22 at Pebble Beach Golf Links in Monterey, Calif. He shot a final-round 7-under-par 65 after shooting a 70 in the morning round. "I felt I needed to shoot 65 in the last round to make it," said Tredway. "I hit some irons real close and made seven birdies.'' He did not make a bogey. Tredway said none of his birdie putts were over 12 feet. "I haven't been hitting the ball that well, and I didn't do it in the first round, either," said Tredway. "But I tried to be aggressive and go after birdies in the afternoon round. It worked."
