Police: Man crashed with police SUV, stabbed dog Comment By The Associated Press MailTribune.com By The Associated Press Posted Jul. 18, 2016 at 2:00 AM By The Associated Press Posted Jul. 18, 2016 at 2:00 AM » Social News WALNUT CREEK, Calif. — Police in Northern California say a man is under arrest after hitting a pedestrian, ramming a police SUV head-on and seriously injuring an officer then stabbing a police dog. Walnut Creek police said in a statement Sunday that 33-year-old Rolando Gonzalez is in custody. Police did not know if he had hired an attorney. Police say Gonzalez tried to flee after leaving the pedestrian with a minor injury on Saturday night then soon after ran into the SUV. The officer inside was seriously injured but is expected to survive. Gonzalez his in bushes after the crash. Officers used bean bag rounds and Tasers on Gonzalez as he resisted arrest. Police say they also sent a dog after him that he repeatedly stabbed before he was subdued. Gonzalez was taken to a hospital for his injuries, but no specifics were given. The dog is expected to survive.
