Dodge, a divine healer and apostle of a form of Holy Rollerism, left town last Saturday, upon warning from the brother of one of his women converts, never to return. The flock he founded, numbering about 50, a large colony of which live in the Griffin Creek district, is still intact, the prophecy regarding the destruction of Medford, published in the Mail Tribune Thursday, being a sample of the fanaticism spread. There are a number of members of his peculiar creed in this city.  A relative of one of Dodge's converts called upon the preacher at his room in the Holland hotel last Saturday and issued an ultimatum that he must leave town in 48 hours or suffer arrest. Dodge did not wait for the expiration of the ultimatum, but departed Saturday, he said, for Seattle. This course was taken to avoid publicity attached to a legal procedure, and because of the prominence of the people involved. Dodge lived in this city about six months and posed as being able to cure pain and sickness by "laying on hands." He also preached the early destruction of the world by fire, and kept his converts in a religious frenzy, some bordering on hysteria. Most of his flock were of deeply religious natures, making them easy victims of his artifices. Though the leader has gone, his influence still exists, his final injunction being that "he was being persecuted by non-believers." In effecting a cure , the Rev. Dodge held the hand of the patient, and after a season of prayer asked: "Don't you feel better?" Most of the members were women. Dodge last fall held a series of revival meetings in this city.
