CRIME Knife-wielding man robs Golden Wok Comment By Ryan Pfeil Mail Tribune MailTribune.com By Ryan Pfeil Mail Tribune Posted Jan. 19, 2015 at 9:23 AM Updated Jan 19, 2015 at 4:57 PM By Ryan Pfeil Mail Tribune Posted Jan. 19, 2015 at 9:23 AM Updated Jan 19, 2015 at 4:57 PM » Social News Medford police are looking for a man who allegedly threatened a restaurant employee with a knife and made off with cash Sunday night. Investigators said the incident was reported at 9 p.m. at Golden Wok, 718 S. Riverside Ave. Medford police Sgt. Tom Ianieri said a middle-aged man walked in, displayed a knife and slipped a demand note for money to an employee. The employee complied with the man's demands and the robber left the restaurant with an undisclosed amount of cash, possibly in a vehicle that had been parked near the front entrance.  The robber is described as a white male adult in his 50s. He is about 6 feet tall with a stocky build and short brown hair, wearing black jeans and a gray shirt. Ianieri said it's not unheard of for robbery suspects to go after restaurants, but businesses such banks or video lottery outlets, where larger amounts of cash are kept on hand, are targeted more frequently. "Any place that carries cash is at risk," Ianieri said. "It just depends. A lot of these criminals aren't thinking. They get 40 bucks, they're happy."
