PAC-12 ROUNDUP No. 25 Utah routs UC Riverside Comment By The Associated Press MailTribune.com By The Associated Press Posted Nov. 22, 2014 at 2:00 AM By The Associated Press Posted Nov. 22, 2014 at 2:00 AM » Social News SALT LAKE CITY — Freshman Kyle Kuzma scored 19 points and Delon Wright had 13 to help No. 25 Utah beat UC Riverside 88-42 on Friday night. Kuzma, a highly recruited forward from Michigan who redshirted last season, scored just one point in Utah’s first two games. He got his first extended playing time and went 3-for-4 from 3-point range. Jordan Loveridge scored 12 points and Brekkott Chapman had 11 as Utah (2-1) sparkled from beyond the arc, shooting 9 for 17 on 3s. Nick Gruninger, a Utah native who played high school ball 20 miles north of the Huntsman Center, scored 14 points to lead the Highlanders (1-2). UC Riverside shot 29 percent and made 1 of their 13 3-point attempts. No. 10 Texas 71, California 55 At New York, Jonathan Holmes had 21 points and 13 rebounds, and No. 10 Texas shook off the absence of leading scorer Isaiah Taylor to beat California in the championship game of the 2K Classic. A night after their starting point guard was lost to a left wrist injury, the Longhorns jumped out to an early lead and relied on their smothering defense to keep the Golden Bears from cutting too far into it. Stanford 89, UNLV 60 At New York, Chasson Randle scored all of his 18 points on 3-pointers and Stanford put on a show from long range in rolling to a victory over UNLV in the semifinals of the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic. Anthony Brown added 18 points and Rosco Allen had 15 as the Cardinal (3-0) scored the first 12 points on 3-point shooting, shot 57 percent from the field in the first half and never looked back in the game at Barclays Center. Southern Cal 72, Drexel 70 At Charleston, S.C., Darion Clark had 15 points and Julian Jacobs scored all his 10 points in the second half as Southern Cal rallied from 12 points down to beat Drexel at the Charleston Classic. The Trojans (2-2) will play for fifth-place in the eight-team tournament on Sunday, while the Dragons (0-4) play for seventh. Washington St. 80, Idaho St. 68 At Pullman, Wash., Josh Hawkinson posted career highs of 26 points and 15 rebounds and DaVonte’ Lacy scored 25 points to lead Washington State to a win over Idaho State. Lacy sank 6 of 12 shots from 3-point range in the second half after going 0 for 4 from beyond the arc in the first half for the Cougars (1-2). Que Johnson added 12 points for WSU, and Ny Redding had 10. Washington 63, Seattle 48 At Seattle, Andrew Andrews hit three 3-pointers in the first 4 minutes of the second half and finished with 11 points, Shawn Kemp Jr. scored 12 points and Washington pulled away in the second half. After a sluggish and ugly first half, Andrews and Kemp sparked Washington (2-0) in the final 20 minutes. Andrews hit his first three shots of the half, all from behind the 3-point arc, while Kemp went on a dunking spree in the arena his father once played for the Seattle SuperSonics. Kemp had three dunks as part of Washington’s 19-6 run to open the second half.
