Tim Allan Lewis, 63, of the 500 block of Wren Ridge Drive, entered not guilty pleas Wednesday in Jackson County Circuit Court to multiple felony charges, including kidnapping, sexual abuse, sodomy and coercion. Lewis confined a woman June 22 and forced her into sex acts, police allege. Deputy District Attorney Virginia Greer asked for Lewis' bail to be raised from $516,000 to $1 million on grounds that more alleged victims have come forward since Lewis' June 25 arrest by Jackson County sheriff's deputies. A new charge is pending against Lewis for attempted first-degree kidnapping involving a new victim, Greer said. Circuit Court Judge David Hoppe followed Greer's bail recommendation and ordered that Lewis undergo electronic monitoring if he is released. Hoppe told Lewis he's facing 11 felony charges without a lawyer, and that 10 of the charges carry mandatory-minimum sentences. The court denied Lewis' application for a court-appointed defense lawyer June 28 because Lewis did not meet the financial requirements. "At this point, you're representing yourself," Hoppe said. Lewis lowered his head below view of the jail's videoconferencing camera as Hoppe read in detail each of the allegations behind the 11 charges. Prosecutors allege Lewis confined a woman where she was not likely to be found, sodomized her twice and subjected her to multiple incidents of unwanted sexual contact with his hands as well as with a sex toy. He allegedly threatened to injure the woman if she did not comply, court documents state. His next court hearing is scheduled for July 18. Court records show Lewis has an open felony case for alleged methamphetamine possession and misdemeanor driving under the influence of intoxicants from June 2015, a misdemeanor charge of harassment stemming from October, and a misdemeanor charge of driving while suspended from February.
