RiverDogs sweep opener Abe Lumpkin smacked a two-run single to push the Southern Oregon Riverdogs to a 5-4 Game 2 National Baseball Congress win over Weed-n-Sons on Friday at Miles Field. The Riverdogs grabbed a 9-4 win in the opener of the inaugural doubleheader sweep for Southern Oregon. Andy Bartels, Kyle Taylor and Don Jenkins each had two hits for the Riverdogs, while Brent Foster came on in relief in the sixth inning to record the win. In Game 1, Southern Oregon scored five times in the bottom of the third and added three more runs over the fifth and sixth innings to seal the win. Mike Newmann went 3-for-3 with four RBI and Colby Gonzales added two hits. Drew York had two hits to lead Weed-n-Sons, a team comprised of past and present College of the Siskiyou players. Casey Campbell tossed the first three innings to pick up the win. Tim Alvarez worked from the seventh inning on for the save.
