By Ryan Pfeil Mail Tribune Posted Aug. 28, 2015 @ 9:58 am Updated Aug 28, 2015 at 4:12 PM » Social News p bs:newslist StartDate="20121121" EndDate="p bs:datecalc Months="3"" DateSort="1" UseObjects="1" ObjectClass="81" Taxonomywords="2325,665" ExactTaxonomyMatch="1" Image="1" Count="4" --> A cement truck crashed near the Medford airport, closing Lawnsdale Road for about two hours Friday while emergency crews cleaned up spilled oil and diesel, got the downed vehicle upright and towed it away.  Medford Fire-Rescue and Medford police responded at about 8:30 a.m. to the crash on Lawnsdale near the Terminal Spur Drive turnoff. The cement truck had rolled on its side and was blocking both lanes of traffic. "They were not carrying cement at the time, luckily," Medford Fire-Rescue Capt. Ryan Stidham said .  The driver of the 68,000-pound truck, 32-year-old Jason Friedrich, was not injured, firefighters said. The cement mixer on the rear of the truck received some damage, and the crash caused some oil and diesel to leak onto the road, which prompted a call to the city of Medford's Quick Response Team to help clean up the spilled fluids.  Firefighters used a granular absorbent solution similar to kitty litter to soak it up, then swept that off the road.  "We were able to mitigate that before it got into the storm sewers," Stidham said.  The road reopened about two hours later. No one was injured. Medford police Lt. Mike Budreau said Friedrich likely took a curve too fast, causing the vehicle to roll.
