ODOT Five-day closure, detour coming to Merlin interchange project in May Comment MailTribune.com Writer Posted Apr. 22, 2015 at 11:25 AM Posted Apr. 22, 2015 at 11:25 AM » Social News There will be a five-day closure of the northbound off-ramp at Interstate 5's exit 61 starting May 18 during an ongoing improvement project. The Oregon Department of Transportation says that the five-day closure of the off-ramp is the only road closure planned during construction of the $2.2 million project at the Merlin interchange. During that time, traffic will be detoured to Highland Drive. Commercial vehicles will be directed to use exit 66 at Hugo. ODOT officials said the closure is needed so contractor JRT Construction, of Oakland, Ore., can widen and rebuild the ramp. The overall improvement project will add a second northbound lane and new traffic signal at the end of the off-ramp, ODOT reported. It will also construct a westbound receiving lane on Merlin Road to Monument Drive and a right turn lane onto Monument Drive. The existing signal at Merlin Road and Monument Drive will be modified, and a new signal will be installed at Highland Drive and Merlin Road.
