The visiting Crusaders peppered the East Linn Christian goal for 22 shots but failed to score in losing for just the third time in 12 matches this season. Junior forward Michael Staver, sophomore stopper Duncan MacDiarmid and goalkeeper Greg Gradwell turned in superlative performances for St. Mary’s. "It was tough watching us play harder and harder as the game wore on and not be able to put anything in the back of the net," St. Mary’s coach Joel Benson said. "We had that one little mishap and that was the game. "But I’m not down on how we played." East Linn Christian managed only four shots on goal. Skyline Boys MAZAMA 2, NORTH VALLEY 1 — At Merlin, second-half goals by Octavio Mendoza and Brandon Amaya brought Mazama back from a 1-0 halftime deficit. The Knights took a 1-0 lead at the 10th minute on a goal by Kristof Handke. HENLEY 6, ROGUE RIVER 5 — At Rogue River, Travis Brollier scored the winning goal at the 75th minute to keep Rogue River winless in the Skyline. The Chieftains (0-9) led 2-1 at halftime, then Travis Yawn scored the first goal of the second half to give Rogue River a 3-1 lead. The third of Tim Melton’s second-half goals for Henley tied the game at 4-all in the 60th minute. The Hornets took a 5-4 lead at the 70th minute on a direct kick by Jeff Mullis. Rogue River’s Alejandro Fegaralla pulled Rogue River even at 5-all on a penalty kick two minutes later. Fegaralla had two goals and one assist, while teammate Eric Valencia also scored twice. District 6 Girls HENLEY 5, ROGUE RIVER 2 — At Rogue River, Heather Olliffe scored a hat trick in leading Henley to the District 6 victory. Olliffe scored her first goal just prior to halftime to give Henley (7-3-1, 4-2 Dist. 6) a 3-1 lead at intermission, then added two goals early in the second half. Henley’s Lauren Williams opened scoring in the 20th minute, with Rogue River’s Christina Malara tying the match five minutes later. Henley’s Marica Rosterolla added another first-half goal, while Lara Rojas capped the scoring for the Chieftains with 10 minutes to play in the match. The Hornets managed a 17-7 edge in shots on goal, with Chelsea Hornbeck making five saves for Henley. HIDDEN VALLEY 9, MAZAMA 0 — At Murphy, junior midfielder Shea Ford posted a hat trick and Ashley Elledge and Anna Hoone added two goals each to power Hidden Valley to the District 6 victory. Kim Hill and Nina Jaramillo also scored goals for the Mustangs, who improved to 5-1 in District 6 action and 7-3 overall. Jaramillo added two assists for Hidden Valley, which rolled up a 40-1 advantage in shots on goal and had eight corner kicks to zero for Mazama.
