Ashland rowing team does well SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Row Ashland masters rowers fared well at the Gold Rush Regatta on May 26. Jim Sims, the coach of Row Ashland, placed second in his heat and fifth overall in the men's single sculling final for ages 55-60. The C age group of Dianne Green, Paula Backus and Beth Geismar and Corinne Lombardi took a large lead in their race and finished first, 17 seconds ahead of the competition. The B age group took fifth, while the D age division team finished third. Scott Knox and Robert Lombardi took second and third, respectively, in the novice singles event, while the Row Ashland women's eight-plus, 36-42-year-old team took third. In the women's eight-plus 43-49 division, Row Ashland finished fifth, as did the men's eight-plus 55-60 group. In a new event for Row Ashland, an eight-person team finished fifth in the mixed eight-plus event.
