The Mavericks (25-19) continue in the double-elimination even against Central Point today at 7 p.m. With the Mavericks boasting a 3-0 lead, Cowden's sixth-inning double drove in Hunt and Dakota Adams to increase North's lead to 5-0. The Senators avoided the shutout by scoring a run in the top of the seventh. Hunt was strong through seven innings on the mound, allowing the lone unearned run on five hits, no walks to go with a pair of strikeouts. Cowden finished 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and scored a run. Adams was 2-for-3. Salem Senators 000 000 1 — 1 5 3 North Medford Mavericks 003 002 x — 5 7 1 Coffey and Cantonwine; Hunt and Wolff. CENTRAL POINT 6, LA GRANDE 5 — Nate Jenkins had the game-winning hit and Gunnar Asher recorded a pressure-packed strikeout as Central Point rallied to win at Harry & David Field. The Comets trailed 5-1 before Dylan Pearce pounded a three-run triple in the bottom of the sixth inning. The hit came with no outs, but Central Point was unable to score again in the inning. La Grande was threatening to pull away in the seventh when Comets relief pitcher Asher entered with two outs and the bases loaded. There, he struck out Eli Childs. His team trailing 5-4 in the bottom of the inning, Brayden Havener came home on an error after Asher led off with a double. One batter later, Jenkins' single drove in Jace Godley from second base and sealed the victory. Pearce finished 2-for-3 and Asher 2-for-2. Brandon Cederholm was 2-for-3 with three RBIs and a run scored for La Grande. ROSEBURG PEPSI 6, SOUTH MEDFORD 3 — South Medford was eliminated from state tournament contention after Roseburg's Issac Hartwick came up with tiebreaking two-run double in the bottom of the fourth. Hartwick's big hit broke the 2-all deadlock and gave Pepsi its first two runs of a four-run frame during which it gained a cozy 6-2 lead. Pepsi's Will Reddekopp went 3-for-3 with a triple while starting pitcher Hayden Kempte lasted all seven innings, yielding three earned runs on three hits and six walks.
