South Medford coach Hal Borg switched up some spots on the singles side, and he liked what he saw. Mitch Steadman, the Panthers' top singles player, didn't lose a game against Alex Doan, while Kai Elam, Gray Bastion and Jonah Michael also cruised to straight-set victories. South's top doubles pairing of Kylar Tosh and Ben Vaughn won, 6-1, 6-1, in the first meeting between the two schools. "In four matches we only dropped eight games," said Borg, whose team is 3-2. "We moved the lineup around a little today with a couple of new players at No. 3 and No. 4 singles and they performed very well." SINGLES — Mitch Steadman, SM, d. Girls Tennis NORTH MEDFORD 4, SOUTH MEDFORD 4: Brooke Costanzo and Anna Lightheart won a tough battle on a 10-6 tiebreaker for North Medford in the No. 3 doubles match against South Medford’s Kayla Fain and Erin Vieira. Kenadie Schultz was able to secure a South Medford victory in another close match against North Medford’s McKenna Cromwell, 6-2, 7-6 (9-7) to help keep things even for both teams. Track and Field ASHLAND SWEEPS EAGLE POINT: At Eagle Point Wyatt Thompson-Siporen and Shashimani Penn accounted for seven individual victories to help the Ashland boys to a 75-69 victory. Thompson-Siporen demonstrated his versatility by winning a running event (110 hurdles), two field events (shot put and discus) and a jumping event (pole vault). Penn was victorious in the 100, 200 and long jump. In girls, Ashland jumper Sydney Norvell's double victory (pole vault and triple jump) helped the Grizzlies to an 83-56 victory.
