South Valley Bank will expand Klamath Falls-based South Valley Bank & Trust is expanding its presence in Medford. South Valley will build a 14,500-square-foot regional financial branch on LaGuardia Drive in the new Navigator's Landing development across Biddle Road from the airport. "We're hoping to be under construction by spring," says Dave McLaughlin, vice president and regional manager. Klamath Falls architect Tom Pedersen designed the two-story building, which will house regional management and lending offices. Ten employees will work in the new branch, and another 20 to 25 will work in the regional office. Additional space will be leased out. The 59-acre Navigator's Landing's aviator theme is underscored with streets named Heathrow and O'Hare after airports in London and Chicago. Reggie and Annette Breeze, Tom Becker, Bill Bagley, Robert and Kaye Smith and L. John Pierce are the partners of record in the project on land zoned for light industrial use. South Valley was founded in 1977. The bank entered the Medford market when it bought the former Western Bank trust company from Washington Mutual in 1999. The bank operates two trust offices and seven other branches in Klamath, Lake, Jackson and Deschutes counties. In May 2000, South Valley opened a full-service branch at 310 Crater Lake Ave. That location will remain, as will the adjacent trust department. South Valley purchased Klamath Falls-based investment brokerage firm Elliott-Ledgerwood & Co. in February. Gary Bedell is vice president and regional credit administrator, and Brad Webster is branch manager at the new facility. McLaughlin said the bank has 300 shareholders and combined assets of about $750 million, divided roughly in thirds among the commercial, trust and investment divisions.
