Ashland Ski Area, but that doesn't mean you can't hit the slopes there — well, more like a slope. The ski area is hosting winter celebrations from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. today and Sunday, which will include access to the Sonnet Terrain park on the area's bunny hill. The terrain park was first opened for the ski area's annual Snow Stomp party early this month, which General Manager Hiram Towle said was such a hit that they decided to do it again. With recent snowfall dropping 10 inches on the ski area, the terrain park will be expanded. Use of the terrain park is free for season ticket holders and $10 for others. The lodge will be open with its usual services, including the renovated T-Bar, Granite Grill and the Granite Cove retail shop. Because the mountain is not yet fully open, sleds are allowed on the Sonnet slope at the user’s own assumed risk. Towle said a steady stream of skiers and sledding families have been visiting the slopes since the first snows in September, despite the thin cover.
