It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I write of the passing of my mother. She was born in Norwalk, Calif. to John and Christina Therres. My mother, her four sisters, and her brother were raised in Ashland, Ore. where Albertson's sits today. She attended Ashland school district from pre-school through high school. One night as a teenager she went roller skating where she met the love of her life, Otis Turner. Shortly after that night they were married and she was by his side for the next 56 years. My mother, above everything else, was a great mother. She gave birth to my older sister, Teresa Selryn Turner, and me, Shannon Wade Turner, and raised us in Eagle Point, Ore. on a ranch and showed us unconditional love through our lives. No matter where I was or what I was doing I could always feel my mother's love. She loved to smile and laugh. I am blessed that I have hours and hours of memories of her laughing. When I lived in Reno, she and her sister, Anna, would come down on tour buses and it was amazing to see the two of them laugh for hours. She was also very hard working. She worked for years at the VA Domiciliary in White City, Ore. When she retired she was a dietician supervisor. When she wasn't at work or in the kitchen cooking amazing meals, she could be found in the garden or at the barn taking care of the horses. She was also an avid runner who ran multiple times in the Pear Blossom, the Shamrock, Providence and Bridge the Gap runs. Anyone who drove Butte Falls Highway back in the day would have seen her running down the highway. Through tears I find a bit of a smile, still feeling her love and knowing that she is in a better place.
