Locals survive opening round at Coast Classic wrestling tournament NORTH BEND � Facing some of the best wrestlers the state has to offer, a bevy of competitors from the Rogue Valley fared well in the first day of action at the Coast Classic. Most of the local grapplers survived the opening two rounds to remain in the championship hunt, although a handful knocked each other off in second-round matchups. Kyle Kauffman of Phoenix pinned Christian Mannenbach of Eagle Point late in the 152-pound match. Mannenbach�s older brother James cruised in his two matches at 171, earning quick pins in both of his matches. In a surprise, South Medford�s Ian Rasmussen suffered his first loss of the season when he was caught and pinned by Coquille�s David Granger at 119. The Coast Classic concludes today in North Bend.
