The contractor, Holm II of Stayton, will take delivery of the beams — 13 to 15 tons and 70 to 100 feet long each — from Portland on Wednesday, Friday, and Feb. 17 and 19. Two 100-ton cranes are being used to unload the sections. The first beams were delivered Monday for the $3.8 million project to replace the original 180-foot span, built in 1935 as part of the New Deal national public works program. Motorists should watch for flaggers and expect delays up to 20 minutes from 8:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. on delivery days. The Oregon Department of Transportation has coordinated with the Three Rivers School District to avoid affecting bus schedules. Bridge work is expected to be complete by July.
