Tim George said. Don Allen Ray, 59, of the 1200 block of Saling Avenue was lodged in the Jackson County Jail on charges of first-degree sexual abuse, first-degree sodomy and first-degree unlawful sexual penetration, all Measure 11 felony crimes that carry mandatory minimum prison sentences upon conviction. Ray’s bail was set at $3 million. Medford police began an investigation last week after a state Department of Human Services worker reported the possible sexual abuse of a 28-year-old woman, George said. Police believe Ray repeatedly abused the woman between Jan. 1 and May 1, at two different locations in Medford, George said. Medford police served a search warrant at Ray’s home on Thursday afternoon. The investigation is continuing. "This is a disturbing case," George said. First-degree sodomy and first-degree unlawful penetration each carries a mandatory minimum sentence of eight years, four months in prison. The other charge carries a mandatory minimum sentence of six years, three months, according to the sentencing guidelines.
