Janky's goal came after a free kick by Meghan Cowan with just under a minute to play. The ball was corralled by Rylee Karrick, who dished it to Janky. Janky went right and beat the South Medford goalkeeper before scoring from close range. Karrick's 57th-minute goal evened the score at 1-1 for North (10-3-1, 8-2 SWC). Using a pass from Janky, she tallied from about 12 yards out with her left foot. The Panthers (8-4-2, 5-3-2) got on the scoreboard first when Renae Nisbet capitalized on a Chloe Alvarez assist in the third minute from 18 yards away. North finished in second in the SWC and South third. Sheldon (11-2, 9-0) has wrapped up the crown. "We improved from last year," North head coach Jeff Thomas said. "We were second last year at 6-2-2 with an outstanding senior class. This year we are grinding a little more, we're maybe not as talented but we're playing together as a team and we're peaking at the right time again. For us, it's about the playoffs." Both squads will play in the first round of the Class 6A state playoffs on Oct. 31. "I take nothing away from (North) at all because they found a way to get the ball in the net, but our girls played hard they kept a really fast pace," South head coach Chris Hollewijn said. "I'm just super proud of our girls."
