TOP HITTERS: Cole Wartick, Brandon Porter and Greg Dodson. NOTABLE: Franklin will be missing three of its top players ' including reigning Class 4A state player-of-the-year Mike Aguilar ' and usual head coach Jeff Pry due to outside commitments.--- KLAMATH FALLS COACH: Joe Tacchini. RECORD: 40-22-1. TOP PITCHERS: Nick Caleb, Carl Fairburn and John James. TOP HITTERS: Carl Fairburn, Brian Kinsman, Morgan Grohs and Kirk Cunningham. NOTABLE: This marks Klamath Falls' fifth consecutive appearance in the AAA state tournament. The Falcons have claimed the crown nine times, most recently in 2000.--- DAVID DOUGLAS COACH: Mike Myer. RECORD: 32-12. TOP PITCHERS: Brandon Jeffers, Mark Hamel, Eric Gefre and Kelly Papenbeck. TOP HITTERS: Kelly Papenbeck, Brandon Currie and Brandon Benfield. NOTABLE: Making its second straight state appearance, David Douglas will be without Justin Snoderle, a top hitter who is beginning his training with the Portland State football program. --- EUGENE COACH: Marty Lees. RECORD: 52-12. TOP PITCHERS: Sean Mascolo, Scott Nelson, Zach Bird and Dane Butler. TOP HITTERS: A.J. Norris, Scott Nelson and David Fox. NOTABLE: Champions of Area 4 with a 21-3 league record. Nelson, who plays first base, third base and pitches, is headed to Oregon State and has tied the Challenger record with 17 home runs this summer.--- PENDLETON COACH: Tim Cary. RECORD: 25-16. TOP PITCHERS: Greg Beamer. TOP HITTERS: John Grote, C.J. Severin and Kyle Waterland. NOTABLE: Pendleton, champion of Area 1, is in the AAA state tournament for the first time since 1996.--- ROSEBURG COACH: Al Skinner. RECORD: 37-14. TOP PITCHERS: Garrett Stembridge, Andrew Renyer, Nick Waechter, Mike Myhre and Jason Stevenson. TOP HITTERS: Kellen Walker and Ben Cooper. NOTABLE: Roseburg has reached the state tournament the last five years and has been on the losing end in two championship games.--- LAKERIDGE COACH: John Freauf. RECORD: 35-10. TOP PITCHERS: Brian Grening, Justin Whitehall and Stephen George. TOP HITTERS: Marc Mason, Kyle Peterson and Dalen Isom. NOTABLE: Mason, a second-team all-state selection in the spring, will play at Pomona College in the fall.--- MEDFORD COACH: Brent Watts. RECORD: 39-10. TOP PITCHERS: Matt Skundrick, Brady Rhodes and Brett Goble. TOP HITTERS: Ryan Heil, Evan McArthur, Brett Timmerman and Rob Folsom. NOTABLE: The Mustangs have won the AAA state championship eight times, the last crown coming in 1997 and capping a streak of five in seven years.
