Oregon Road Conditions & Cams Email Story to a Friend September 2, 2005 Oregon slows Raiders’ progress EUGENE — Offense was in short supply for the Southern Oregon University volleyball team in a straight-game setback at the University of Oregon at McArthur Court on Thursday night. The 11th-ranked NAIA Raiders (5-1) suffered their first loss of the season and mustered only 23 kills in a 30-11, 30-21, 30-20 setback to the taller NCAA Div. I Ducks (4-0). After a disastrous Game 1 in which SOU had three kills and nine attack errors in 23 attempts, the Raiders played UO on even terms for portions of Games 2 and 3 before succumbing to the Pac-10 school for the second straight season. Senior all-star middle Nicholette Le Bel paced SOU with eight kills and two blocks, while senior libero Kristen Lilly compiled a match-high 10 digs. Oregon’s Mira Djuric racked up 12 kills and four blocks and helped her squad to a .281 attack percentage (49-for-114 with 17 errors). SOU was held in the negatives for efficiency (-.021) for the first time in head coach Paul Elliott’s 15-year tenure (23-for-95 with 25 miscues). The Raiders head to Portland for the Holiday Inn Classic, an eight-team NAIA tournament conducted at Concordia University today and Saturday.
