North Medford blanks South Medford New faces in new places have done little to slow down the North Medford girls tennis team. The defending state champions, who swept the titles in No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles last year, improved to 3-0 on the season with a convincing 9-0 win over South Medford at Fichtner-Mainwaring Park on Thursday. North Medford won 108 of the 116 games to claim all 18 sets over the Panthers (0-2). "I was impressed with all of the girls all around," said North coach Dale Jensen. "I also thought the South girls played well, especially considering this was their first match and our third match." Freshman Erin Chamberlain eased past South Medford senior Sarah Close, 6-1, 6-0, in No. 1 singles, with North junior Shannon Leever posting a 6-0, 6-1 win over sophomore Nicole Hoyal at No. 2 singles. In doubles, North senior April Louie teamed with freshman McKenzie Hilmer for a 6-0, 6-0 win over the pairing of junior Kelly Roulon and sophomore Ashley Ingeldew. SINGLES - Erin Chamberlain, NM, d.
