CRIME Two arrested following gunfire near Eagle Point, subsequent car chase Comment MailTribune.com Writer Posted Oct. 8, 2015 at 2:25 PM Posted Oct. 8, 2015 at 2:25 PM » Social News Two suspects have been arrested after a Thursday morning report of shots fired outside Eagle Point and a subsequent 100-mile car chase that ended west of Diamond Lake only when the driver ran out of gas. The Jackson County Sheriff's Department reported on its Facebook page that deputies responded to the 100 block of Riley Road for a shots fired call at 5 a.m. today. Two suspects fled the scene in separate vehicles, one a black Ford Focus stolen from the property. Police saw both vehicles leaving the area. No one was hurt by the gunshots, agency officials said. The stolen Focus was found abandoned in a driveway in the 17000 block of Highway 62 at 6:30 a.m. Deputies located the driver of that vehicle a short distance away and arrested him. The driver of the second vehicle, a Jeep SUV, drove for 100 miles, leading deputies on a chase that ended on Highway 138 west of Diamond Lake after the gas tank went dry. The male suspect fled on foot, but he has since been located and arrested, with assistance from Douglas County Sheriff's Office deputies. The names of the two suspects and their ages have not yet been released, though that and more details about the shooting are forthcoming, the sheriff's department said.
