Vice President Dick Cheney’s visit to the Rogue Valley on Friday forced police to redirect resources, temporarily slowing the search for Elizabeth Rose Sabin, 48. Jackson County Sheriff Mike Winters said a few deputies, along with Rogue River police, remained in the Wimer area throughout the day. "We’re not going to give up on this," Winters said. "We’re going to keep looking." Officers from several agencies spent much of Thursday scouring the Wimer area for Sabin, who fired an undetermined number of shots from a small-caliber rifle at her 44-year-old brother Albert Sabin. Albert Sabin was on the front porch of the family’s trailer home in the 600 block of Minthorne Road. He was not injured. Another brother, Larry Sabin, said he thinks he was the intended victim. He said his sister was angry at him because he was set to testify as a character witness in a civil suit of his sister’s that was dropped. Advertisement In April, Elizabeth Sabin stopped traffic in Grants Pass when she stood atop the Caveman Bridge and threatened to jump into the Rogue River. Larry Sabin said his sister "knows how to live on nothing" and at one time lived in some caves above the Wimer Bridge. Elizabeth Sabin is described as 5-feet-5 and 220 pounds. During the alleged shooting, she was dressed in olive pants and carried an orange backpack. Anyone with information regarding her whereabouts is asked to contact the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department at 774-6800.
