Mellow pace, gently rolling terrain. Information: 535-5276. Sunday: A Siskiyou Velo club 40-mile ride leaves Colver Park in Phoenix at 10 a.m. and heads to the Applegate store and back. Brisk pace, moderate terrain. No ride leader. Every Monday: A Siskiyou Velo club 25-mile group ride starts at 11 a.m. at Colver Park in Phoenix and goes to Jacksonville. Brisk pace, gently rolling terrain. Information: 535-5276. Every Tuesday: A Siskiyou Velo club 25-mile-plus ride starts at 6 p.m. at Sims Cycle in Medford. Mellow pace, gently rolling terrain. Running May 13: The Southern Oregon Sizzlers are staging a 10-mile "Tough as Nails" run at 9 a.m. at Prescott Park in Medford. Preregister by May 4, and the cost is $15 with shirt and $5 without. June 3: The Crater High School cross-country team will sponsor a 10-kilometer run at 8:30 a.m. beginning at the Gold Hill city center. The course travels along Lampman Road to Highway 99, crossing the Rogue River twice. There will also be a 5-kilometer run/walk and a 10-kilometer wheelchair event. Pre-registration entries are due May 22. Entry is $20 with T-shirt and $10 without, or $13 the day of the race. July 15: The eighth annual Siskiyou Out Back 50K/15K Trail Run is set at the Mount Ashland ski area. The 50-kilometer race starts at 7 a.m. with a 6 a.m. start option; the 15-kilometer begins at 8:30 a.m. The course follows the Pacific Crest Trail Forest Road 20. Aug. 12: Registration is under way for the 2006 Crater Lake Rim Run. May 14: The Sierra Club is planning a strenuous 12-mile hike from Pacific Crest Trail near Pilot Rock to Scotch Falls, including a magnificent drop and then climb.
