Main St., Ashland. Films are from Norway, Brazil, Australia, India, France, Mexico, Israel, Indonesia, Senegal and the United States. Tickets cost $8.50 each for adults or $7 for senior citizens, kids, and students and active military members with identification. A World Film Passport is $40 for six tickets for adults or $35 for people in the discount categories. Tickets are available online or at the theater. Passports are only available at the theater. First Friday Art Walk: Ashland galleries and venues will remain open into the evening hours from 5 to 8 p.m. during the town's monthly First Friday Art Walk. Matt Hopper: Singer, songwriter and guitarist Matt Hopper — a Boise, Idaho-based troubadour who spends summers in Alaska, winters in Arizona and tours the globe — will perform at 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2, at Brickroom, 35 N. Main St., Ashland. His new album, "Grand Ole Hopry" — recorded in Nashville and slated for release in November — showcases an alt-folk and country sound in the vein of Wilco. With 11 albums to his credit, Hopper draws from folk, country, blues, jazz and psychedelic genres for his original music. All the while, he's not afraid to rock out or get too folky. Hopper records as a solo act and with his band The Roman Candles. Alt-folk and country duo The Brothers Reed will open the show. Saturday, Oct. 3 Brews and Boogie: ScienceWorks Hands-On Museum presents its 11th annual Brews and Boogie beer festival and dance party for people age 21 and over at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, at the museum, 1500 E. Main St., Ashland. Sample beer, wine and hard apple cider and eat food from Martolli's Hand Tossed Pizza, Milagros Fresh Mexican and Pantomino Specialty Foods. Jive Coulis, Frankie Hernandez and the Old Soul Parade and the Danielle Kelly Soul Project will provide live music and DJ G-Rad will be mixing between sets and into the night. Carnival games and prizes will be available. Tickets are $15 in advance at the Music Coop, 268 E. Main St., Ashland, and at Grocery Outlet, 35 E. Stewart Ave., Medford, or $20 at the door. Book Festival: The Ashland Book and Author Festival is set for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, in the Hannon Library, 1290 Ashland St., Ashland. The fourth annual, free event includes panel discussions and dozens of workshops and presentations covering a wide variety of subjects. CD Release Party: Ring of Trees — singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Shybo Torres, lead guitar and mandolin player Rick Harris, drummer Jim Walley, and bass player Jeff Avila — will celebrate music from the band's new CD, "Live the Light," at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, at Touvelle Lodge, 9367 Table Rock Road, Central Point. Look for a mix of rock 'n' roll and world music. Longtime Rogue Valley resident Torres was front man for two bands — Pendragon and Gypsy Moon — in the '80s. The new CD was recorded and mixed at Torres' Gypsy Moon Studio and mastered at Bluejay Productions. There is no cover for the show. Talent Harvest Festival: The town will celebrate the harvest season with downtown activities from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3. The day begins with a pancake feed from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m., followed by registration for 5K and 10K races at 7 a.m. and the start of the races at the Train Depot at 8 a.m. and finishing at the Skate Park. A Harvest Festival Parade through downtown streets begins at 10 a.m. H'aena will perform at 11 a.m., Salsa Brava will perform at 12:45 p.m. and Maestro & The Captain Flat Five Flim Flam will perform at 2:30 p.m. on a main stage. A second stage features the Jill & Daryl Fjeldheim Clown Show at 11 a.m., Ballet Folklorico Ritmo Alegre at noon and ScienceWorks Hands-On Museum displays at 1 p.m. Other activities from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. include artisan and growers booths, a rock climbing wall, a petting zoo, apple cider pressing, old-fashioned games and a children's farmers market. Grant Ruiz & Dan Fellman: Classical and flamenco guitarist Grant Ruiz and jazz guitarist Dan Fellman will perform at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, at Belle Fiore Winery, 100 Belle Fiore Lane (off Dead Indian Memorial Road), Ashland. Play Discussion: Actors from the Oregon Shakespeare Festival's play "Sweat" will perform selected scenes from the play about the decline of industry in America, lead a discussion with a panel of speakers and conduct a writing workshop with attendees to share their stories at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, at the Medford library, 205 S.
