Man dies in Jeep accident A 20-year-old Grants Pass man was killed early Sunday morning after a Jeep driven by a childhood friend flipped over as they left a party. Michael Adam Bassett Annaloro died of head injuries after the Jeep's roll bar pinned him to the ground, according to the Josephine County Sheriff's Department. Three of the four other people in the Jeep, including driver Travis Pierce of Grants Pass, suffered minor injuries. Another passenger, 18-year-old Amber Anderson of Grants Pass, was taken to Rogue Valley Medical Center in Medford with possible spinal injuries. Anderson was listed in fair condition Sunday evening. The accident occurred about 12:15 a.m. Sunday five miles up Savage Creek Road near a secluded logging landing area where a group of teens and young adults had met for a party. Deputies said alcohol was being consumed by those at the gathering, including the five people involved in the accident. Pierce, who is 21, left the party in his Jeep with four passengers. As he pulled away, deputies said, he lost control on the gravel road and climbed an embankment until the jeep flipped on its top. Some passengers were thrown clear but Annaloro was trapped underneath. Deputies said Pierce and Annaloro had been best friends since they were age 8. Deputies are investigating what role alcohol may have played. They said Pierce did not appear to be under the influence of alcohol when interviewed after the crash but had been drinking. Deputies said the case will be referred to the Josephine County District Attorney's Office for review. Mail Tribune Copyright The Mail Tribune 1999, Medford, Oregon USA
