Rogue Valley Citizen Alert test scheduled for Oct. 24 Wednesday Oct 12, 2016 at 9:19 AM Oct 12, 2016 at 9:19 AM Don't fret if you receive a phone call, text message or email from the Rogue Valley Citizen Alert system at about 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 24. It's just a test. Both Jackson and Josephine counties will conduct the test, which is held twice a year in the fall and in the spring. The Citizen Alert system is used to notify area residents of ongoing public safety incidents such as wildfire evacuations, hazardous material spills and dangerous fugitives in the area. The tests are for practice purposes. All landline telephones in the two-county area will be notified. Cell phones and email accounts that are signed up to be alerted will also receive the test notification. For more information, visit www.rvem.org.
