Courtney Allen, 7, dies of cancer A Medford girl who saw her greatest wish come true with the help of the community died this week, unable to win her fight against cancer. Courtney Ann Allen died Monday at the Rogue Valley Medical Center. She was 7. Courtney was diagnosed with cancer in August and received treatment at a Portland children's hospital before being sent home for the holidays in November. Although chemotherapy and radiation seemed to improve Courtney's condition, the cancer spread to her spine. With the help of the Make-A-Wish Foundation and Medford radio listeners, the Wilson Elementary School first-grader was able to talk with a member of her favorite band, the Backstreet Boys, in early February. A memorial service for Courtney, who lived in Medford all her life, will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Central Point Assembly of God. Pastor Jeff Anderson will officiate. A private graveside service will be in Memory Gardens Memorial Park. Courtney is survived by her mother and stepfather, Teresa and Israel Ochoa, Medford; her father, Robert Allen, Central Point; two brothers, Robbie and Stephen Allen, both Medford; a sister, Andrea Allen, Medford; a stepbrother, Kelssen Ochoa, in Honduras; two stepsisters, Keyla and Roxchelle Ochoa, both in Honduras; and her grandparents, Linda O'Brien, Medford, David O'Brien, Rogue River, and Jim and Patricia Masterson, Antioch, Calif. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, William Allen. Friends may pay their respects from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday in Memory Gardens Mortuary, Medford.
