Neither could a broken bone. Clark played limited minutes in the second half due to a broken right hand suffered in the second quarter. The senior forward made his court-time count, however, drilling a 3-pointer at the buzzer that lifted North Valley to a 69-68 victory over fifth-ranked Hidden Valley on Tuesday. The Skyline Conference loss was the first for Hidden Valley (16-3, 8-1 Skyline) and dropped it into a first-place tie with Phoenix. The Knights (11-8 overall) moved to 6-3 in the Skyline and remain tied for third with Henley. The back-and-forth contest featured 56 fouls, and ended with North Valley having just four players on the court for the final eight seconds due to disqualifications. Free throws put Hidden Valley up by two with eight seconds left. Advertisement Clark took the inbounds pass and, after losing control of the ball then regaining possession, weaved up the court and nailed the game-winning runner as time expired. "Just an incredible game," said North Valley coach Rob Boye. "It was probably the best basketball game I’ve seen. I couldn’t have written it up any better." The Knights jumped to a 23-8 lead after the first quarter behind a pressing defense. Fouls began to mount up, so North Valley backed off, allowing the Mustangs to climb back and tie the game at the half. North Valley had six players foul out, while Hidden Valley lost two. The Knights ended the game with just one starter on the court. Hidden Valley’s Nick Hayter led all scorers with 20 points, while Andy Shannon scored 15 for North Valley. Clark grabbed six rebounds, and teammate Shaun Ash dished five assists to go with five steals. HIDDEN VALLEY (68) — N. Hayter 20, J. PHOENIX 67, MAZAMA 45 — At Klamath Falls, Phoenix blitzed Mazama in the first half and never trailed en route to its 17th win. Nathan Bursk came off the bench to score 14 points on 6-for-8 shooting. Jason Lockett added 13 points and five rebounds for the Pirates (8-1 Skyline), who scored 26 points off 20 Viking turnovers. Kyle Fritz and Justin Clark each scored 10 points for Mazama, which trailed 43-18 at the half. Vaughn went for a career-high 26 points as Rogue River (10-9, 5-4 Skyline) pulled away with a big third quarter. The Chieftains extended a nine-point halftime lead into a 62-38 margin going into the final period. Vaughn and Ryan Girodat each scored 10 points in the third quarter to spark the Chiefs’ 29-point explosion. Vaughn and junior Juan Bartholomew had eight rebounds each to help the Chieftains to a 33-24 advantage on the boards. Sophomore guard Spencer Frantz paced Rogue River with seven assists. For Illinois Valley (2-17, 1-8 Skyline), Jon Riley posted a team-high 21 points. Henley (14-4, 6-3 Skyline) jumped out to a 23-3 first-quarter lead. The Hornets full-court pressure produced 34 steals, with Joel Matchett getting a team-high five. Point guard Chris Hargrave came off the bench to pace Henley with seven assists. The Hornets outrebounded Lakeview, 39-33. Skylar Morgan grabbed a team-best eight for Henley. Four Loggers reached double figures, led by a 24-point, 14-rebound, eight-assist effort by Kelly Harrington. Derek Burns and B.J. Parker each scored 17 points and Dylan Ross added 12 points and six assists for the Loggers. Butte Falls (17-2, 9-0 Skyline A) didn’t let the Cougars on the scoreboard until the second quarter when it led 29- 0. Sean Harju led Prospect (5-13, 0-8 Sky A) with eight points.
