Clark goal gives South 1-0 triumph SOC soccer Kacy Clark's first goal of the year enabled the South Medford girls to avenge a soccer setback from last year. Clark tallied in the 72nd minute Thursday to give the Panthers a 1-0 non-conference victory over North Eugene at Fichtner-Mainwaring Park. A year ago, North Eugene pinned a 4-0 loss on South Medford. "They beat us pretty badly last year," said Panthers coach Leslie Lang. "I don't think they brought as strong of a side this year, but they've still got some really solid players. It was a good win for us." And Clark was largely responsible, something that pleased most every member of South's team. "She works really hard up front," said Lang. "It's her first goal of the season, and it's been a long time coming. Everyone was pretty psyched for her." Heather Fossen got the shutout in goal. "She's a solid keeper, and she's got an extremely phenomenal defense in front of her," said Lang. "That helps." South, 8-4 overall, and North Eugene each had 12 shots. SOC Boys CRATER 9, MAZAMA 0 -- At Central Point, Jason Bell scored just two minutes into the game to set the tone for Crater in its non-conference win. Jason Licato scored to go along with an assist and Leo Espinosa chipped in with two assists to lead the Comets. Crater (8-4-1, 1-4 SOC) dominated shots on goal with a 27-5 advantage over the Vikings.
