Mazama advances to 3A final KLAMATH FALLS � Skyline Conference champion Mazama advanced into the Class 3A state baseball finals with a 9-5 semifinal victory over Glide at Kiger Stadium Wednesday. The Vikings (22-7) will face Philomath, an 11-3 winner over North Marion, at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Volcano Stadium in Keizer. Mazama had built a 4-0 lead when Glide exploded for five runs in the sixth inning. Mazama answered with five runs in the bottom of the sixth to take command 9-5. The Vikings combined three singles, a double and a walk for the five runs. Kyle Blank provided an RBI double and Tyler Starkey added a run-scoring single. Starkey scored the final run of the rally when the ball was thrown into right field when he tried to stretch his base hit into a double. Mazama senior pitcher Jake Nelson went the distance to register his 13th win in 15 decisions. T.J. Farley led the Vikings attack with three hits, while Nelson and Starkey contributed two hits each.
